As a “junker” and booth owner at an antique mall, I tend to hold on to stuff. I’ve almost gotten rid of these milk cans many times and I’m so glad I didn’t!
These have sat on our front porch for years. In fact, I’m almost certain my husband already owned two of these even before we started dating. I’ve always just used them as porch decor but after moving to the farm, I wanted to add new life to them.
Milk Cans Before
A few weeks ago, I entered a contest on Instagram and won 2 cans of Fusion Mineral Paint. I’ve never used this brand before and was eager to find a project to test it out! They have a large color selection and I loved the color “Lamp White” and that’s what I used on this project.

I brought them inside and wiped them down quickly with some cleaner and began painting. Immediately I was amazed at the coverage! It adhered to the metal great and dried quickly which is a major plus for someone as impatient as I.
After One Coat of Fusion Mineral Paint
I ended up painting 2 coats but if you planned on distressing yours, one coat would have probably been sufficient. I let them dry overnight and then pulled out some of my left over fabric from my fabric pumpkins I made this past fall. You can see that tutorial HERE.
I used the buffalo check fabric because I plan to use a black and white color scheme in the new house. Buffalo Check will always have my heart! The plus side is that I can change out the fabric during the holidays as well! My plan is to add some great greenery and change it out with the seasons.
Painted Milk Cans
So with a little paint, fabric and existing pieces you can add some farmhouses touches to any space.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and would love to hear about any recent projects you’ve been working on!
