Hello Friends! We have been working hard on remodeling this 100 year old farmhouse over the last year! It has been a very slow process. Between plumbing, electrical , fencing and more, we have had our hands full. Today I wanted to share a quick post on our upstairs living room update. Huge thank you to Boutique Rugs for sponsoring this post!
So much has already happened in this room. It’s hard to tell because I feel like this living room update has been very slow. I have to look back at images and remind myself of how far we have actually come.
Living Room Before
There was a pot belly stove in here that was plumbed incorrectly so we decided to remove it for safety reasons. There was also a weird fabric covering the metal on the roof. We assume it was for insulation as well as noise canceling but it was old and dirty and just didn’t look right.
The cedar post and stair rail weren’t my style and to be honest, I have no idea what all those wood things sticking out from the ceiling were meant to be. The previous owners had sort of a western saloon thing going on up here and I wanted it all out as quickly as possible.
We started painting in here as well. We still have areas on the ceiling touch up and finish as well as some trim and the wood paneling on the lower half of the wall. New lighting will go up in here too. Also, I am on the hunt for some new end tables and would love to know what you suggest!
I purchased this Ektorp Sectional off Craigslist as well as the matching chair and ottoman for a steal. It had red slipcovers so I ordered new sets off Ikeas site in the light beige color. You know I love that neutral! I added a few throw pillows for now to make it feel more like “home”.
Don’t ask about the recliner. I hate it. He loves it.
Upstairs Living Room Update
Boutique Rugs sent me this rug to review and I absolutely love it. I feel like it has great quality and the prices on these rugs really can’t be beat. This one is on the thinner side which I wanted. We often have guests over that require walkers and this is much safer for my family. The color is beautiful and would work in so many homes.
This rug can be found [HERE] and you can also check out all the other rugs they offer!!
