This year I had planned to go even more simple than what I actually did, but I just love Christmas decor. I’ve teamed up with a bunch of amazing bloggers to bring you this years super fun and inspiring I DIYed That Christmas blog hop. We will all be sharing our own DIY, Decor and Holiday posts with you and I am sharing my budget Christmas decor!
Living Room Budget Christmas Decor
I always say you don’t have to have a ton of money to decorate. Thrift stores, a little DIY, repurposing what you already have. All of these are ways to save money but still achieve the desired look you’re wanting. I have also found some amazing items at garage and estate sales. I buy pieces here and there all year to have them to use for the holidays. That plaid throw was an estate sale find. Its wool and cost me $3. I love finding good deals like that. The sign above the wreath was hand made and I purchased it at a local antique mall for $10.
Budget Christmas Decor Using Small Faux Trees
Sometimes something as simple as ribbon and greenery can completely transform an existing piece you already own to make it “Holiday” decor. There are so many options and DIY projects that won’t cost you a dime. Be sure to check out all the bloggers in this blog hop for ideas and inspiration.
Buffalo Check Ribbon and Butcher Paper to Spruce up Your Presents
I use butcher paper a lot when wrapping gifts. It’s cheap and simple and I love that I can personalize it with ribbons, greenery and even stamps if you’re feeling a bit adventurous. So many cheap and easy ways to dress up those gifts. The paper comes on a huge roll for $10 at your local home depot and can be used on gifts year round!
I was sent this amazing tree by Home Depot as part of their Holiday Style Challenge and you can read all about that [HERE]. It has over 7200 branches and 10,000 LED lights. The lights have 8 settings and it is amazing. I feel so blessed to own such a beautiful tree.
My New Favorite Christmas Tree
The only new items I purchased this year are the wreath and the garland over the door. Those also came from The Home Depot. Everything else, I already owned. The stockings came from Michaels last year and since the stockings were buffalo check, I simply used buffalo check ribbon on the tree and other greenery to tie it all in. The bow on the top of the tree was also made using burlap ribbon I already owned.
Buffalo Check Ribbons on the Tree
I placed my lanterns on the mantel along with some paper mache reindeer that I got last year on clearance at the end of the season. I tied the same ribbon around their neck to again, tie it all together. If you own lanterns already, simply add some holiday ribbon or greenery to get them holiday ready.
Budget Christmas Mantel
I had purchased a bunch of small faux Christmas Trees at the Thrift Shop a few years ago and use them in my decor. They are so simple but add just the right amount of Christmas cheer to any space. You can also find these at local craft stores for cheap. I always recommend to hit the after Christmas sales for the best prices and just put them up for next year! Sometimes they mark stuff down to 90% off. Too good to pass up!
Coffee Table Centerpiece Using Faux Small Trees
This centerpiece was super simple. I just used an old wooden box, the small faux trees I mentioned earlier and then a few pinecones and winter greenery. I love changing out the decor in this little box that sits on my coffee table with the seasons. Even the smallest detail can make such an impact on a room.
